dropbox paper
48 TopicsWe can no longer add comments on Dropbox Paper, why?
Yesterday on Dropbox Paper the facility to add comments on paper pages totally stopped working. This is very frustrating as we use paper pages for planning and lots of comments are no longer visible and can't add new comments to existing or new pages. Tested with multiple computers, accounts and web browsers - comments have gone... Any options to troubleshoot this or any support from Dropbox?Solved569Views0likes7CommentsIs Paper still supported by Dropbox?
Hello dear community and moderators. I'm writing to find out if I can continue to base my business workflows on Dropbox Paper. It's a lovely, lovely product, and my business has spent $1000s of dollars with Dropbox over the years instead of your competitors, ENTIRELY because of Dropbox Paper. Unfortunately, getting even 100% reproducible bugs fixed, let alone trickier ones, is an exercise in futility. I've had incident23468323 open since March 17th, which is about 5.5 months ago. The bug is 100% reproducible, and I'll include a screenshot of it below. I've received stock responses from support for 5.5 months now, and they all say exactly this: "Currently there is no ETA. Once I have an update from our engineers I will reach out back to you." I've asked for escalation over the months, and receive this response: "Your case is already being investigated by our engineers. It cannot be escalated to a higher level." If this basic functionality of the app broke >6 months ago, and it is 100% reproducible, then how can it take 5.5 months with zero updates? As a paying customer, I find this unacceptable. My assumption at this point is that Paper is not being supported by engineers who can fix broken functionality. Is Paper supported by fix-capable engineering any more? Hi all, I'm an happy user of dropbox paper but I still can't create paper files from within my dropbox.com web space. Do any of you have the same problem? As a workaround I currently create new paper docs by copying existing projects. This approach works but I still need to delete / substitute all the content imported from the original file. Help would be appreciated 🙂 Thanks! FSolved4KViews1like11CommentsDropbox paper kanban view
It would be really amazing to be able to use Dropbox Paper as more of a planning tool in 2023. Our needs are relatively simple. The timeline view is nice but it leaves much to be desired. Most notably, there are no basic kanban features. This really should be an alternate view for the timeline. Key to a kanban is tags. In order for this feature to work well, you would need to be able to add tags to each item in the paper timeline. Right now you can write a description, pick a color, assign it to individuals, and check it off as done--not the same as moving it along a kanban board. While it would be nice to be able to do even more dynamic work with this feature, like with Notion, it's better to start with this baby step. Right now that's the only thing we do on Notion that we can't do with Paper.1.2KViews1like3CommentsThe .paper format is just an exercise in platform dependence.
It's absolute bull**** forcing us into your proprietary .paper format. For those who don’t know, .paper is essentially just a dressed-up version of markdown. However, the platform refuses to let us create or edit standard markdown files, insisting we use.paper format which is a nuisance for several reasons. The .paper format is unique to Dropbox. No other platform recognizes or supports it. This means we’re locked into using Dropbox if we want to work with these files. Need to switch to another service or collaborate with someone who doesn’t use Dropbox? Good luck – you’re stuck converting files manually, which is a tedious and unnecessary extra step. Markdown is a widely used and recognized format across numerous platforms and editors. It’s simple, versatile, and universally compatible. By refusing to support markdown directly, Dropbox is ignoring an industry standard that makes collaboration and content management seamless. Forcing users to adopt a proprietary format is a classic example of vendor lock-in. Dropbox is making it deliberately difficult to leave their ecosystem by ensuring that our documents are tied to their platform. This isn’t about offering better features or a superior product – it’s about making sure we stay dependent on them. The inability to work with markdown directly within Dropbox’s editor reduces our flexibility. Many of us use multiple tools and platforms daily, and markdown’s compatibility is a significant productivity enhancer. Being forced to use .paper instead of standard markdown disrupts our workflow and limits our efficiency. It’s annoying to have to deal with unnecessary proprietary formats when a perfectly good, widely accepted alternative already exists. We shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to do something as simple as creating or editing a markdown file. You refuse to make working with files straightforward and stress-free by forcing us to use yourretarded .paper format and not giving us the ability to create or edit plain Markdown files on your platform, and it'sunacceptable considering how much you're charging. By the way nice job DropBox, of course you're the center of the universe here like nothing else matters ofc.. Absolutely annoying!270Views0likes1CommentCan I make the timeline in Dropbox Paper span to only this year?
I'm using the timeline in a Paper Doc and I can't figure out how to start the timeline on January 1, 2024 so it'll only span this year. When I scroll the timeline to earlier dates, it seems to go back to 2023 and before. I just want the timeline to span this year. I know you can set it up be viewable for the year but I want to be able to see a month-to-month view for 2024 -- I don't need the timeline to scroll back any earlier. Any tips on how to do this?Solved689Views0likes3CommentsIs Dropbox Paper dead in the water?
Hi everyone, I really like how Dropbox Paper works and I would love to move all my work from other alternatives to work only in Paper. But I'm a bit worried that Dropbox ignores Paper at this point and don't improve it. The last "news" to Paper was on March 5 which is a very long time ago. And I don't want to work in a tool that the developers doesn't want to improve. Anyone know how the development around Paper will be going forward? Thanks and have a nice day all.8.6KViews7likes11Comments
