Dropbox for Outlook is giving me a "failed to load request" error message

Hi, this app has stopped working. I get the error message "failed to load request". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but no change. I have been to Microsoft 365 help and they have shared my screen and looked into it but think its a Dropbox issue.

Hey AdrianN, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community.

Since we don't really have a standalone app for Outlook, would mind giving a bit more info on the issue?

    Which app are you using?

Do you see Outlook in your connected apps page in the Dropbox settings?

And where are you seeing this error message? If you can also send us a screenshot of the error, so we can have a visual, that would be awesome.

    Thanks!

I have the same problem, it is the app that is deployed within the ms 365 admin centre.

That makes the dropbox logo appear on your email ribbon, and is supposed to allow you to save the attachments directly to dropbox, but it won't let me navigate my folders because of this error, and if I just click save nothing happens.

Sorry to see you're also having trouble, Chouette and thanks for the update, Adrian.

Can you both try to disconnect your Outlook account from your connected apps page in Dropbox and then reconnect it, to see if that helps?

Hi Hanna, there is a Dropbox  "add in" for outlook.  If you have outlook and search for available add-ins (within outlook) it comes up with Dropbox among others.  this allows you to send an email with a link to the dropbox file or folder. the outlook add-in is then added to the ribbon.  it worked extremely well for a long time and then suddenly started ging me the error message.

yes, "dropbox for outlook" shows as an app in Dropbox settings.

      Many thanks

      Adrian

Hello.  I've also started receiving this error.  Strange thing is that it works on office 365 via the browser, but not the Outlook desktop application.  I have one user where it works great, but he is the only one.  No one else can get it to work on the desktop application.  Has anyone been able to solve this issue?

I've tried removing it, re-adding it, uninstalling the dropbox desktop app and re-installing it.  I've gone round and round with MicroSoft, but to no avail.  Any help would be appreciated!

Hi SteveSh, if you quit the Dropbox desktop application entirely, do you still receive the same error as before?

Yes, I do.  I've removed it completely, rebooted, and re-installed just the add-in and still get the same.

No, seems like they have been trying to resolve it for months and months with no success. Ive had to revert to using we transfer to get some files out of dropbox

Hi, I just bought a new Mac, and followed community instructions to get Dropbox visible in Finder. Success! But when I try to attach documents to emails in my outlook - either in the app or online - the documents fail to load, and a message tells me the files are "empty". As this is a core function I use many times daily, I am pretty concerned! BTW, the dropbox share in Outlook does work but this is not a sufficient alternative in my work environment. Any ideas about how to get this working properly?

Hey susanb1, I hope you're having a smooth Monday so far!

I've merged your post under a similar thread, since the OP expressed a similar concern and I wanted to keep everything under one place.

Feel free to check some of the troubleshooting done here, and let me know if you have any questions.

      Thanks a bunch!

Hi Megan, How do I find the thread that you moved my question to? I looked at recents but didn't see anything. And I have no idea what OP means... new around here.
