Do you access your Dropbox content on other apps outside of the Dropbox app? Feedback appreciated!

Hi everyone,

My name is Emily, a Product Manager on the Dropbox Mobile app team and I am here because I wanted to reach out to the community to learn about how you access your Dropbox content outside the Dropbox app. We are planning to make some improvements to the way Dropbox integrates with other apps and want to hear your feedback.

Here are a few questions to get the conversation started:
  • What apps do you use to access your Dropbox content (outside of Dropbox)?
  • What types of devices do you use them on? (iOS, Android, tablet, etc)
  • How often do you use these apps? (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • What works about this set up? What doesn’t?
  • Is there anything you‘d like to see improved from the Dropbox side?

We understand that everyone's experience may differ, so we welcome all types of feedback, positive or negative. We're committed to continuously improving our product so your feedback will help us make it better.

Thank you in advance for your time and input. We're excited to hear what you have to say!

Thanks,
Emily, Mobile team

Hi Emely. This might be off topic, but I use the Dropbox as synchronized folders on my PC, but I have tome trouble with it. If this is off topic, could you please help me finding the answer in the community, or should I put my question as a separate question?

I have a pretty fast and functional PC which I sync two different shared Dropbox folders to without any problem. However a few months ago I was invited to a third share folder, and I have access to it online on the web, but it just won't sync to my computer. I thought maybe it was just a temporary problem so I have waited surely six months without doing anything about it, but the problem still remains. About a week ago I asked the person who invited me to remove the invite, and then add me again. I saw that my access was first removed, and then added again, but I still can only see the folder on the web, and not as a folder on my computer. I am a non paying user. Do you know what the problem could be? Thank you so much for any help.
    Best regards

    Hi Emily,

I predominantly use Android and Ubuntu Linux. After trying several cloud storage solutions I chose Dropbox because I liked the Linux desktop application.

However, I'm not too impressed with the android application. My main uses for Dropbox on android are accessing my Obsidian vault and for syncing photos, and videos. Media sync is workable, but Obsidian is a bust.

To be clear, I'm not asking for integrations between the Obsidian application and dropbox, I just want read/write access to my Dropbox data from outside of the Dropbox application.

Here is a 3rd party application with over 1 million downloads that provides this functionality; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ttxapps.dropsync

Why isn't this available through the official app?

    Cheers,

    Jake
