My German friends have problems opening video clips. After the first picture, the screen turns black. They use a MAC.

It depends what format the video files are in. If they are - for example - .AVI files, they would need to install the software to play them (QuickTime won't). The best utility for playing all video formats is the VLC open source video player - it's a free download.
