How To Send a Paper File Via Dropbox

How To Send a Paper File Via Dropbox

Amy

We are Paper super fans. No, really - we LOVE Paper, and use it pretty exclusively. I have never looked back and I use it when working with different teams, both internally and externally, so it’s really handy to know how to share a Paper doc securely, whatever level of security you need. Here are some tips to share files securely.

How to send a Paper doc with Dropbox:

It’s simple to send files with Dropbox. Step one is sharing a Paper doc with the right people to begin with. Whether someone is on your team or not, you can follow the steps below to invite them to your doc.

  1. Open the Paper doc you want to share.
  2. Click the blue Share button at the top of the doc.
  3. Type the email address of the person or people you want to share with. You have the option to include a message.
  4. Click Can edit to choose the permissions access you'd like invitees to have:
    • Can comment allows others to leave comments on your content
    • Can edit allows others to directly add to, edit, or delete your content, and to invite others to the doc
  5. Click Send

And don’t worry you can change the permissions later on too. Simply click the blue Share button, then Settings, and choose a sharing option under Who can access.

Password protect a Paper doc:

Dropbox Professional, Standard and Advanced customers can add a password to a shared link too. When someone opens the link, they'll need the password to see its contents - which you can share with the people you want to.

To add a password to a shared file on dropbox.com:
  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Hover over the name of the file and click the share icon (rectangle with an up arrow).
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click either Link for editing or Link for viewing depending on which link you’d like to add a password to.
  5. Next to Require password, click to toggle it On.
  6. Set a password.
  7. Click Save.

Dropbox Paper security:

Sharing is taken care of, but how secure is Paper itself? Well, very. Trust that you are sending files securely as Dropbox files and Dropbox Paper docs at rest are encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), so you can rest easy

So, you can share the Paper doc with the right people, protect it before you share it and even update your settings later - it doesn’t get much more secure than that!
