This is like vacuuming your house or office. Do you guys go without it for years on end? It's hard to believe this critical and essential feature does not exist. I currently have multiple folders that can be merged easily on windows, but not on Dropbox. One thing the Dropbox developers have to understand is that business accounts have larger amount of files on Dropbox than on their systems, and because of the painful speed of upload and download and the limitation of files that can be transferred at once (3000 files), it is not possible to do this on the desktop side. So there has to be a house cleaning tool that allows for maintenance and merging of duplicate folders and files. You can even find this on your phone these days. It is hard to imagine Dropbox for business customers do not have this option.

Please tell me that you are working on a solution, other than manually deleting duplicates. I have looked through all of the other offers you promote on your website. I can't believe it would be that difficult to do. PLEASE HELP US! Thank you in advance.

Somehow, many hundreds of my photos have been duplicated in Dropbox.

 

1.  There needs to be functionality to find and delete these.

 

2.  In the meantime, it explains why I had to purchase more storage.

 

This should be a high priority project.

@William W.5 It wouldn't be counter to profits if they offered it for the advanced plan with unlimited storage for example.

If i have unlimited storage, they don't have any more upsell to do on me, so just let me get rid of duplicates, and also; PLEASE give the **bleep** uploader a comparison feature (file size/mod date) when i upload a file of the same name to the same directory. (Because Dropbox failed with the initial upload of some files at 80%).

I can't trust the browser "Calculate file size" to compare with my local folder and check if everything has been uploaded, because it's NEVER accurate. Even if i'm 100% sure that a folder of 112gb (according to finder) has been fully uploaded, it will tell me like 108gb or 119gb.
So the only way to REALLY double check, would be to drag all the files to the directory again, and skip already existing files, but only the ones with the same file size. But we can't have that 🫠

I agree; to be the complete tool for storing files and optimizing data, duplicate file cleaning should be part of the Dropbox package.

Not sure why this has not been approved by the dropbox administrators.  Please advise why not?

After all this time, still no duplicate finder.

there is one “find duplicates” button when you select the gear icon. It’s not functional other than to find duplicates. But no way to remove only one. It removes  both and then you have to manually add one back to your file.

looks to me like they’ve known about this since 2016 (first mention I saw in previous comments) and no resolution after all this time. Wow. Then they want me to upgrade my package to get proper tech support. Or struggle through a 3” box to try and get anything solved- inefficient.

Added function for users is not a profit center.  Everything is about money and mining the user cohort with add-ons that don't mean much to most.  Why would DB make it easy for us to accurately find and delete exact duplicates, when money is made on us having to increase storage instead.    

The only choice is to buy a huge drive, download all your DB files to this huge drive and use good DupFinder software to clean them locally.  Then send the ones you don't need back to cloud-only status.

Included in your basic package, you can enjoy the 3” un- expandable window and texting back and forth for hours of your time, if you’re not keen to get something accomplished efficiently. User experience is not as important as moving up to the next paid tier.
