Duplicate File Cleaner / Removal / Override

Duplicate File Cleaner / Removal / Override

This is like vacuuming your house or office. Do you guys go without it for years on end? It's hard to believe this critical and essential feature does not exist. I currently have multiple folders that can be merged easily on windows, but not on Dropbox. One thing the Dropbox developers have to understand is that business accounts have larger amount of files on Dropbox than on their systems, and because of the painful speed of upload and download and the limitation of files that can be transferred at once (3000 files), it is not possible to do this on the desktop side. So there has to be a house cleaning tool that allows for maintenance and merging of duplicate folders and files. You can even find this on your phone these days. It is hard to imagine Dropbox for business customers do not have this option.

You're right. With all software it's better to make it easy use, rather than alienating otherwise loyal customers.

It's the same with them (arrogantly) not allowing us (who pay their wages) to call them, or even email them.

You can email them via a contact us form from www.dropbox.com/support, talk to them via online chat or if you are paying as a Business user talk to them on the phone.

Why would a business model based on selling cloud storage want to give users the ability to reduce their need to purchase more cloud storage?  Likely it's not ever going to happen.

Because people and users aren't stupid; when you are a user and you have a high volume of storage, you expect the company that you confide in to provide the resources necessary to unclutter your storage and help better organize your company and files; that is who I like doing business with!  If they are stingy and opportunistic and cheat their customers from the best resources and tools, someone will surface wih deeper pockets like Elon Musk and clean up and perfect the cloud system, and essentially offer you a better product.

Pay attention to detail and take no shortcuts; those are the companies that thrive and win in the end.

@Jeffry:  Yes.  However we are both here wishing for the resources necessary to declutter our storage.  I don't see it happening as it is counter to profits and user efficiency.

That would be so nice to have that feature!

My company had hired a company to upload all our file storages. They didn't do it right and had to upload a second tranche. Unfortunateley there are now some folders up to 4 times in the storage (hidden somewhere in the depths of our file paths). Which is only adding to the problem that we already had the same files in multiple folders (somehow my pedecessors didn't know what shortcuts were).

It would be of great help if that feature would be available soon because it's now my task to reorganize our storage.

MaTie:

you can use the brute force method of splitting the files into logical groups and making each group “available offline”. You can then search/remove dupes locally.
