Re: Move a subfolder to a different folder without losing shared link?

Move a subfolder to a different folder without losing shared link?

I've sent mail to various individual, embedding a link to one of my dropbox file. What happens if I rename or move the folder containing that file to a different location, always inside my Dropbox root folder?
Thanks in advance

Luigi

Hey @VisintinTH, happy Thursday, I hope you're doing well!

Moving or renaming the file that your shared link points to will not affect the shared link that you generated.

This means that anyone who has access to the shared link will still be able to access the file if you move it to a different location in your Dropbox folder or if you rename the file.

I hope this helps!

Thanks a lot Megan, I was not aware of this useful feature!

That's what I would think - that the url would contain a unid (unique identifier) for the document that wouldn't change if you moved the document.  I'd expect same behavior for moving anything (e.g. a folder).  Could you pls point to the proof of this in Dropbox support documentation?  Thank you!
