Re: Delete *some* files from an old, unlinked back-up

Delete *some* files from an old, unlinked back-up

I have a back-up from an old desktop I want to manage. I want to delete *some* files from this back-up, without deleting the old back-up. As a first step, I unlinked it, but in the web UI, when I try to delete a folder, it tells me to unlink it (again... despite already being unlinked).

Any insight? Thanks in advance.

Hey there @michaelfromyeg - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please clear your browser's cache and/or try another browser and let us know if you still get the same error?

If you do, we'd appreciate a screenshot too!

So here is what I see if I select a folder in my unlinked back-up:

Where is the ability to move the content within the rest of my Dropbox account?

It is in fact unlinked:

I don't have free space on my PC / nor the time to download the full 300GB and re-upload to my 'main' Dropbox account, but since I don't own the device anymore, I just want to shift the filters from 'PC (2)' into a folder of the same name on my account.

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure you cant - that is, annoyingly and rather stupidly, how backup works.

Backup simply downloads back to the device (or a connected one). It isn't possible to 'work with' the files.
