Sync dropbox across multiple locations/hard drives
I have a larger dropbox account than my primary hard drive. It would be great if dropbox could support virtual links to files outside of it's default location, without those files having to also be i...

There are problem if the dropbox folder is placed in different volume from user folders like My documents and you want to use automatic backup of user folders.
I suggest adding the ability to Dropbox Desktop Client to work with folders located on multiple Windows drives (C:,D:,etc)

Hey.
I would like to suggest that you make this feature of 'Backups' further available for clients who do not have there dropbox folder on the internal harddrive of your macbook but use an external harddrive as your dropbox folder.
As surely I am not the only user to use an external harddrive as there dropbox folder instead of having it on the internal harddrive as some of the internal harddrives are not big enough to for the dropbox plan i am on or require. but...
it would still be nice to backups>This Mac feature availble to me.
As you can see from below because my dropbox and folder are on different drives it does not allow me to set this feature up, I believe many of your clients will be in the same situation as me and would like to use this feature but aren't allowed.
Please could you look at updating this feature? Thanks.

I totally agree with this idea! The description can be a bit more clear. I've rewritten the requirements in 3 requirement: 1A, 1B and 2.
1A- Feature "computer backup" should be available also when the dropbox-folder is fysically located on another drive than the main drive of the Operating System (so not only on C: but also on another internal drive or external drive)
1B- Feature "computer backup" should be available also when the computerfolders (Downloads, Documents, Pictures, Videos, Desktop, Music) are fysically located on another drive than the main drive of the Operating System (so not only on C: but also on another internal drive or external drive)*** Requirement 1A and 1B are a "must-have". Most users will be satisfied when this is available. Next step would be the following "should-have" requirement:
2- Feature "computer backup" should be available when the computerfolders (Downloads, Documents, Pictures, Videos, Desktop, Music) are fysically located on another drive than the drive where the Dropbox-folder is fysically stored. - Mrrg4 years agoExplorer | Level 4
I'm sort of flummoxed why this isn't already an option. I have a smaller drive that I run my OS on and a larger drive with Dropbox. I really don't want to be forced to buy a larger drive *just* to accommodate this feature when I already dish out $120/year. I've been using Dropbox for years and I've valued the flexibility it offers but if another product has more, I'm not opposed to making that switch.

I have a small SSD for my Windows 10 OS and program files and a larger INTERNAL RAID-10 drive array on which my Dropbox resides. I have a 2TB plan for Dropbox. DropBox will only backup files on the C drive. My Downloads and Documents folders are on my RAID-10 drive array, and I have no desire or space to move my Downloads folder to the C drive. I want to see DropBox backup allow backups for other drives within my system. It should not be limited only to the C drive.
There are plenty of other people with this issue, although I'd imagine I'm one of few who actually uses a RAID array.

How is it not currently possible to have Dropbox on disk C and work documents on another large capacity disk?

Hi, thanks for your response.
I need a high-speed hard drive on my computer and, in addition, another, mainly, with a large storage capacity.
In the first -optic- I run all the programs that I need to be processed quickly (statistics, geographic information systems, ...). , while in the second I store all the information that I generate (on a high-capacity mechanical hard disk).
Optical hard drives today are fast but low in storage capacity (for a reasonable price), as well as less reliable than traditional magnetic drives.
Unlike this, magnetic disks offer very large storage capacity at a very reasonable price and excellent reliability.
As the technical service informs me, Dropbox stores the information on the same hard drive where the application is installed. I have a 500 GB optical hard disk and work files for 400 GB (and increasing), at the same time as a 2 TB mechanical hard disk that, apparently, cannot be used by Dropbox.
The fact that the information must necessarily be stored on the same hard drive where the application is installed, without being able to define a way to store it elsewhere, constitutes for me, currently, a very serious limitation of Dropbox.

I have an HP Laptop running Windows 10 and it has 2 hard disks, one is an SSD for the system and applications and the second one is a normal HD for the Data. This is a worldwide normal configuration for mobile Workstations like this one (in my company more than 500 persons have mobile workstations con 2 HD and most are suffering same problem than me with DropBox).
The problem is the Dropbox can not sync System folders (Desktop, Download, Documents, Music, Images and Video) if I move it to another ubication different than the System volume, but Windows is alouding to move these folders to another HD because it is logical that if you have 2 HD you want to put all data in a different HD than the system (the SSD are expensive and normally smaller capacity than the Normal HD)
So I can't make Back Up of my computer.
Also need that Dropbox aloud me to Sync any folder I want, not only the Dropbox folder.
