Safe private git repositories

Storing your git repositories on dropbox can be problematic at best and at worst corrupt your data.  I really wish there was a service that will allow me to put git repositories I don't want located anywhere publicly (like github.com) in my personal dropbox space.

I am not the first person to think of this.  There is a published hack to make this work https://github.com/anishathalye/git-remote-dropbox but I would really like dropbox to own doing this and not have to rely on a complicated workaround.  It does not at all need to be full featured like github either.
