Ability to see all shared folders

I have a folder I would like to share but it gives me an error saying I can't share because there is a shared folder below. How do I find this folder to move it? There are hundreds of folders and no ...

I've split your post off into its own thread as it didn't relate to the topic you originally replied on.

There's no longer an easy way to locate shared folders. Dropbox, in their infinite wisdom and desire to continue removing features we rely on, have changed the Sharing page to only show shared folders that you can add to your account.

You'll need to browse your folder hierarchy and locate the shared folder yourself. The folder icon for a shared folder will have people on it. Also, if you're looking at your folders on the Dropbox website, the Members column will indicate folders that have other members in them.

Looking at an unshared folder either on the web or PC doesn't give any indication that there aren't any shared folders below. The only way I can see at this point to find them is to go down the branch and try to share each subdirectory until you get an error. Then drill down further through hundreds of folders until you find the shared one.

Dropbox should be simple. I shouldn't have to deal with it. It should just work and do it's job. The decisions DB has made lately is alienating it's customers.

    Sadly larsdennert lots of us agree with you. 

    Dropbox seem to be removing lots of the helpful intuitive features it originally had :(

      Thank you for the feedback on locating shared folders deep within your folder stucture. This issue with locating sub-folders has been brought up with our enginnering team and they are evaluating how best to resolve this issue.
       
      When we redesigned dropbox.com/share, our goal was to declutter this page, and to focus your attention on content you can add to your Dropbox. We didn’t make any changes to the actions that you can take with shared folders.
       
      We removed ‘Folders in your Dropbox’, because those folders can be found other places within the structure of your Dropbox account. To see the folders that appeared in the ‘Folders in your Dropbox’ section, you can filter the Files page on dropbox.com by type. To do this:
       
       1. Go to dropbox.com
       2. Click Files in the left side bar
       3. Click the “Modified” filter at the top of the page. “Modified” is the default selection for this filter.
       4. Select “Type” to see all the shared folders in your Dropbox account grouped together

        Hi,

        this does not help at all.

        I would need to see ALL shared folders in one place.

        With this so called "solution/option" I cannot work.

        I only see the shared folders which are in the files tab. But no shared folders which are in sub folders etc.

      I hope this doesn't break the rules. Try using Adobe DC. It has a shared function and you can move your file to Dropbox
