Dash Chrome Extension vs W10 app

Apparently Dash Beta is available as a Chrome browser extension and a W10 app.  I have both installed.  Is that necessary?  Seems a bit of over kill.  Can I sensibly get rid of the Chrome exention?  Got enough of those already.  Still learning exactly what Dash is and does.  Thanks in advance.
