Dropbox updates to improve your summer
Now we know that you might be trying to fit a lot of summer into the next few weeks (just me?) and we have some handy Dropbox updates to share that can make your life easier and you can get back to those summer plans. Check out some updates about security, improvements for teams, a bigger and better beta updates for both Dropbox Shop and Dropbox Capture - so keep reading for all the details, or hop over to the Dropbox Product updates page.
Stay safe, without having to think about it
We all know that security is one of the most important things when it comes to our online lives and businesses, but nobody wants to be thinking about it all the time. On that front, we have some good news if you want to protect your businesses. Dropbox can now monitor for security threats with Dropbox Passwords, ransomware monitoring and detection, and keep you in the loop with security alerts and notifications.
With just a few clicks, admins can:
- Mitigate risk with strong password use across teams
- Securely share usernames and passwords to make it easy to grant access to external accounts across the team
- Stay up to date with alerts and notifications—no need to download software releases, run patch updates, or worry about new malware variants
If you want to know even more about security updates with Dropbox then you can check out this blog to explore our content controls and always-on security features. For now, this is available on Dropbox Advanced and Dropbox Standard plans.
In other security and team news, admins can also now:
- Recover files fast with extended version history—up to one year with a Dropbox Advanced plan.
- Track and manage content after it is shared outside the company
- Control when and where team members have access to content
Read our blog to explore our content controls and always-on security features.Visit the Help Center to find out how to back up external drives and manage Backup for your team.
Dropbox Capture beta: Create recordings without the 5-minute limit
You have heard us talk about Dropbox Capture again and again…. and we’re back with more updates! So the new and improved Dropbox Capture includes:
- Up to 2 hours of recording! That old 5-minute recording limit is history. So, anything up to a collective limit of 2 hours is good to go.
- Commenting on captures— when you receive a capture to view, you can share feedback by commenting on specific time stamps and give accurate feedback.
- Organizing your captures—group related recordings together, such as a how-to video on submitting expenses, a screenshot of the expense submission portal, and more.
Dropbox Backup allows teams to back up external hard drives
You might have seen the update about external hard drives a while ago, and now, teams can automatically back up their connected external drives too (alongside their computers) to the cloud so they can quickly recover lost data without all the downtime.
Dropbox Backup for external drives is available for teams using Dropbox Standard and Advanced.
Dropbox Shop beta creators can now sell streaming content
Dropbox Shop now allows you to sell streaming content, so you can now share view-only content, including on-demand video and audio streaming, and images or documents that cannot be downloaded. Along with this, you can upload content from your computer or your Dropbox account (up to 50GB per listing for Dropbox Plus and Dropbox Professional accounts, and 2 GB for Dropbox Basic accounts)
Whether they’re selling online video courses, podcast episodes, or view-only recipes and flow-charts, Shop users can maintain ownership over their content and give customers easy access to streaming and non-downloadable content, as well as the downloadable content you can already share. Find out what else you can do from Dropbox Shop. And we would love to hear all about it, so tell us in the comments below how you are making the most of Dropbox Shop!

How do we get permission to Blog, and video about it.
I found it in a YouTube video, so I believe there is a way to get permission.
It's a great product and I'd love to promote it.
Thank you,
