Hi all,
If you’re using a new Apple Silicon device, we recommend using this initial build until Dropbox is compatible with Silicon devices in the coming weeks.

Hi Emma,
Thank you so much for your message.
Its the first in months from Dropbox about support for Apple Silicon Macs, who are out already from juni 2020 to test under macOS Big Sur Beta, there is not the Big Sur release 11.0.1 out and pretty stable.
And ... it's working all fine again !!

It's just an intel build that doesn't crash.
- BietBat4 years agoHelpful | Level 5Why does it take so long? I am using my M1 MBA in conjunction with Dropbox using Safari in the meantime. A native Dropbox app would be highly appreciated.
Also some kind of roadmap of when Native app is being delivered would be more then welcome.

But what about Windows on ARM? I have been waiting for this for a year now! This is ridiculous. You'll support silicon Macs very quickly but not Windows on ARM. Disgraceful.

What about Linux too? 🧐 How long gonna be ignored? 🤔 Linux has always supported ARM!

An Apple silicon M1 Mac only uses the ARM instruction set but is not really an regular ARM cpu.
Apple uses a self developed Soc with all components imbedded in it.
as Apple is going to sell millions of them in the next months it's worth the effort from developers to make their apps running on it.
and if it runs on an iPhone it's really no effort to run on an Apple M1 Mac 💻.

In November you said…
If you’re using a new Apple Silicon device, we recommend using this initial build until Dropbox is compatible with Silicon devices in the coming weeks. This suggests that, as of November, Dropbox was expecting to ship a native Apple Silicon version soon. Today (February 24) it is about thirteen weeks since that post. I just downloaded and installed the latest version. It was 116.4.368, Intel only.
Any update on native Apple Silicon support?
- Walter4 years agoDropbox StaffHey there leftnotracks; sorry to jump in here, but have you tried any more recent builds of the desktop app?
The latest stable version, for example, is the 116.4.368 one. Which one are you running at the moment?- Здравко4 years agoLegendary | Level 20

Hi leftnotracks,
Apologies for the delayed reply here. This stable build is compatible with Apple Silicon devices.

Emma Stable does not equal Native. It doesn’t appear that this version is native, as it is an older version number than what I have installed (118.3.421) and what I have still relies on Rosetta 2. So when will an Apple Silicon Native build of Dropbox arrive, in beta or stable?
- Taro I.5 years agoHelpful | Level 6Is this a Universal build or just an Intel build that doesn’t crash under Rosetta 2?
- dolfke5 years agoCollaborator | Level 10
I would not care much for that.
it simply works, at last !

Emma - any updates on when the version compatible with Apple M1 Silicon devices will be relased?
Thx.

You better use the 113.3.427 build or higher, it works fine on both Intel and M1 Macs ...
- alexclst4 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Though 113.3.427 works on M1, it is reliant on Rosetta. Is there a beta of a Universal version of Dropbox that wil work natively on M1 Macs? When will such a beta or stable update come out?
