No option for "make online only" when I right click my files
I have a professional DropBox account and I'm working on a Mac, OS 12.5.
I have several files that are sync'd locally that I would like to move off my hard drive and make online only. When I right-...

Could you check if you've enabled the Dropbox extension in Finder in the Mac OS settings?

Hi
As far as I remember, I could turn on 'online only' both for folders and for single documents, photos and soundbites by 'right-clicking' on a file or a folder. Now there is no option for 'online only' on my pc (microsoft) or in dropbox online when I 'right-click'. And I've looked through different places but no smart sync or online only. Where did I go wrong - or have you altered how to access that feature? Anja

Hey tartaronne, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Can you please check the sync status and version of the Dropbox app?
You can hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray for this info.
Also, are you missing other Dropbox right-click options or just the "make online-only" one?

Hi again
Thank you for the answer, but it didn't work. Hovering made no difference, nothing showed up. I've searched for 'system tray' and got some suggestions in Danish. Somehow I reached a box in which Dropbox could search for dropbox files on my harddisk, and then I could mark them and tick a box saying 'only online'. I do not think I can find that again. So, I still do not know how to 'order' files to 'be only online' or view my system box. I think my dropbox version is quite old. How can I update? Do I have to download dropbox again? 🙂

Hey Anja! Sorry to jump in.
Just to clarify, if you check the bottom part of your screen, where your clock settings are located, can you see a small Dropbox icon there?
If yes, please try hovering once again, and send me a screenshot of what appears on your screen.
Also, I’d like one more screenshot of the options you see when right clicking on a file/folder within your local Dropbox folder.
Thanks!
