Unauthorized Charge
Hello,
I have an unauthorized charge from Dropbox, and I need to identify if it is an actual charge or a fraudulent charge. Here is the charge on my credit card statement:
"Credit Card DROPBOX SIGN YEARLY HTTPSWWW.HELL CA Date 12/17/2/Principal Amt: $195.98"
Here is what Dropbox's chatbot is telling me:
"Your most recent charge was for $11.99 charged to Visa ending in 7766 approved on 13 Apr 2020 GMT for Dropbox Plus - 2TB (4/13/2020 to 5/13/2020)."
Obviously, these don't add up. I have another email that I've used to log into Dropbox in the past, but I have never had a paid account through that email.
Please help!
Thank you,
Sam

Hey stgray, sorry to hear about this.
Can you please clarify if you've tried our self served look up tool to identify the email address that's associated with this charge?
Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there, Sam.

Hi Walter,
Thank you for your help. There is no transaction ID on the charge. I have no idea what this charge is if it's not from Dropbox, and I'm not sure why it says Dropbox.
Thank you,
Sam

Hey Sam; Happy New Year!
From what you sent above, it sounds like you’ve been billed for a Dropbox Sign plan, and not a Dropbox subscription.
If you haven’t done so already, can you please open a ticket with our support team via this link, and then, send me the ticket number you’re going to receive?

- aowens913New member | Level 2I have a fraudulent charge from dropbox.com on my checking account. I looked up the receipt number and the information the receipt is linked to is not my information. I cannot get in touch with anyone from Dropbox. My bank has advised me to get in touch with someone and I can’t. I just need to speak with someone ASAP!
- SongwriterdudeNew member | Level 2To whom it may concern,I have been with Dropbox for quite a few years for my music and videos. I did this so I could share my big files with others if I couldn't share them through AOL email. I don't remember ever being charged for anything with you guys because this is supposed to be a FREE service! However this month I was charged on May 1st 2 charges. One was for a debit card purchase of $11.99 and another for a so-called service assessment fee for 36 cent, 36 cents, REALLY?I don't know who or how someone got a hold of my debit card info but I called my bank and disputed the charge and I had to close the card up because it has been compromised by someone who works at Dropbox, evidently, thanks a lot!All I want to do is get into my FREE account and take my files off of your service and close my account!By the way, this is being investigated by my bank!

Visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.

How would that be possible if you never gave them your billing information? Dropbox cannot charge you if they don't have your billing information. If you've been charged and you didn't give them your billing information, then someone else has and contacting your back was the correct action.
All I want to do is get into my FREE account and take my files off of your service and close my account! Are you unable to sign in to your account? Even if your free account was upgraded, you should still be able to sign in to it unless the information on the account (email/password) changed and you don't know it.

I was charged 180usd from dropbox sign yearly, HTTPSWWW.HELL. My bank says i need to find someone from dropbox to help me. There is no transaction ID to the charge. I need someone to help me navigate this.
