Can't install Dropbox on Ubuntu 20.04 in 2021
Hi!
Dropbox install on Ubuntu 20.04 does not work:
I download & run any .deb file from https://www.dropbox.com/install
It opens "Ubuntu Software" app (used to install all apps) and shows ...

You are right, this is strange.
Once I've opened a terminal in Dropbox folder and tried to run any command starting with "dropbox" OS said there is no such, but suggested to install one via a command:
sudo apt install nautilus-dropbox
I run it, Dropbox got installed again, all config was already setup, and now Dropbox works after a reboot.
Thanks for your help!
Support is awesome, but installation process on the most popular Linux - brings a lot of questions

Hi there Crystalis, thanks for reaching out to us here!
From the error that you mentioned getting, can you please check to see if you're device meets the minimum requirements for the app?
Possibly, you might be using a file system format that the app isn't compatible with.
Let me know and we can go from there!

Hi @Daphne!
I believe I'm using ext4.
I'm using a Dell's OptoPlex 3060 with pre-installed Ubuntu, I haven't changed default settings.

Can you try the offline installer from here to see if you get the same error?
If so, please send along a screenshot of that error, as the visual is always helpful.- Crystalis4 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Thanks for that! I've launched .dropbox-dist/dropboxd and it looks like installed Dropbox
I've opened settings and set it to start on system startup
I rebooted - the Dropbox is not running, no shortcut on Home screen or app named Dropbox in main menu (installed apps list)
- Daphne4 years agoDropbox StaffI see, that does sound a little strange, Crystalis.
Can you try checking the status of the app with the command outlined here, to see what that reports?
Also, if you check the System Monitor, do you see the app running there at all?
