Back up an external drive without using internal hard drive space
I have a PC with a 1T C Drive backed up with MS One Drive. I am happy with that and do not want to change it. I also have a 1T external SSID that I use to store astro photos. I want to "backup" those files on Dropbox where I have 2T but I do not want them to copy to the C drive. I have tried this in the past and wreaked havoc.
Is there any way to set this up as a Dropbox backup without going through the PC C drive? If not, can I simply make a one-time copy on Dropbox of the folder contents I want to backup, without going through the C drive? What steps should I take to ensure that I don't add data to my PC hard drive?
I figured it out. The folders were set to share with Team Members. I changed the Who has access to "Anyone with link".
I'm still perplexed about how the other user had access through the link and then got the error message. I changed that folder to "anyone with link" and it works.
