Hi verger1, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
If you marked a file to download in Finder, have you tried marking the folder as online-only in the context menu to see if this helps stop the download?

Yes, I tried to give a counter-order by selecting "online", but this is only taken into account at the end of the operation, so it doesn't cancel anything.
Dropox interprets commands one after the other, a new command does not interrupt the previous one.
This is why, before starting the synchronization of thousands of files, it would be very desirable to have a message to confirm the operation
