Can 'camera uploads' upload photos only from my camera folder?
Hi, is there a way to automatically backup my camera roll from Android to Dropbox? I only want to backup the photos I take but cannot stop it from uploading every photo in every folder. 😔
- Hi ThaiBill, there isn't isn't a way to disable the backup of the screenshots in the automatic camera uploads feature, as it is included by default.
If you wish, you can suggest this change for others to vote on, so the dev team can look into this in future!
- HannahDropbox StaffHi ThaiBill, thanks for reaching out!
Our camera uploads feature actually uploads photos and videos taken from your 'camera' and your 'screenshots' albums on your mobile device.
Did you take a look at this feature? Are you seeing a different behavior?
Keep me posted!
- ThaiBillExplorer | Level 4Hi Hannah, thanks for the response. I have have tried this but was hoping to just back up my photos and not the screenshots too.

- Flap Z.Explorer | Level 4Why can't you stop Screenshot uploading it can't be that hard to implement a choice of folders to upload.
- hg23Explorer | Level 4Camera Upload works fine on my Samsung Note 8 - but photos sent to me by MMS don't seem to be included. Does anyone know how this might be automated?

Hey hg23, thanks for posting your question to our Community.
At the moment, you can only upload photos and videos from your Gallery/Camera roll and your screenshots through Camera Uploads.
If you want, you can manually upload the photos you receive by MMS, by following the steps here.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hannah,
Thanks for the response -- sorry to hear there's no solution from Dropbox. Do you happen to know how it could be requested as a future enhancement?

Yes, it is possible to automatically backup your camera roll from Android to Dropbox while only selecting the photos you want to upload. Here's how you can do it:
- Install the Dropbox app on your Android device and log in to your Dropbox account.
- Open the Dropbox app and tap on the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the screen.
- Tap on "Settings" and then on "Camera Upload".
- Turn on the "Camera Upload" feature.
- Tap on "Upload Using" and select "Wi-Fi Only" or "Wi-Fi and Mobile Data" depending on your preference.
- Tap on "Upload Photos Only" and turn on the toggle switch.
- Tap on "Exclude" and select the folders you don't want to include in the backup.
- Finally, tap on "Turn On" to start the backup process.
