Hi there,
I am using dropbox on a Macbook Pro from 2017. I am only using 16% of the space available on my dropbox account.
I have never had any issues like this with dropbox before, but all of th...

Hi Lusil ,
Thanks so much for the response! I actually just figured it out. One of my .psd files had a "/" in it, and I believe it was causing the rest of them to not sync. As soon as I removed the / everything else synced within seconds.
So strange!
Thanks again,
Krista

Hi there knorthofwest, I'd be more than happy to help look into this with you.
As a first step, could you please confirm for me the following:
- Are you running the latest stable version of the desktop app (84.4.170)? You can check this by hovering over your Dropbox icon on your system tray or menu bar.
- Have you tried closing any third party apps like a security app, and temporarily disabling your antivirus?
- Could you also ensure that you've configured your firewall to work with Dropbox?
Let me know of any updates!

Maybe here there is the same problem. But ... where is such a file? The bad_file_check doesn't work (known issue)

Hey JoergEss, thanks for checking in with us.
You should be able to find files that contain incompatible characters found in this list.
However, could you please elaborate a bit on what the issue is? Are you having trouble syncing? Are you not seeing files in your Dropbox folder?
Any additional info would be very helpful. Thanks!

Can I ask you how you found the illegal character? I am stuck at syncing 5 files and I know one of those must have the same issue you had. Is there a way to look up the files that are stuck so I can rename them?

Hey mymgraphics, thanks for nudging us here!
For now, you can manually check for any incompatible characters your files may contain by navigating to a path, pressing Ctrl + F (Windows) or Command + F (Mac), and entering one of the characters from this list.
I understand that this may not be the ideal reply you were looking for, but I do hope it helps to some extent.
Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can do to help. Thanks!
