Unable to disconnect Mac Desktop & Documents from Dropbox.

Hi some time ago I permitted Dropbox to back up my Desktop & Documents.

Since then I have reverted from a Busines to a personal Dropbox account.

Despite the fact I have disbled Backup in Dropbox, both folders on my Mac show as aliases that go nowehere.

I have found and been directed to articles on  how to set up or pause syncing but none on how to permenantly diosconnect so that Dropbox has zero interface with my Mac Desktop & Documents folders. Help!

  • Hi Kallisti05, let's jump right into this!

You mentioned that both folders on your Mac show as aliases that go nowhere.

Have you tried the steps my colleague Hannah suggested right here? If not, can you give that a go?

I'll be happy to know how things turned out!

      Hi Megan

Yay thanks I now have 2 empty folders called "Documents" and "Desktop", which I have populated from a backup. Sorted.

Step 2 is irrelevant to me:

"2) If the computer backup has been successful, then you should be able to simply open Finder, go to your Dropbox folder, and click on the Mac folder."

      - as I am not backing up, do not wish to, nor do I want to have any of my my Mac folders in my Dropbox.
