mp3 automatically downloading to dropbox content

Hello --

I hope this is the correct category.  If not, my apologies.

I need to download mp3 clips for a class.  No matter what I do, my iphone is overtaken by dl/dropboxcontent .....   I need to be able to loop the mp3 so this does not work for me.  Nor can I find the mp3 in my Dropbox itself.

Please help.  I am so frustrated at what should be a very simple process.

Thank you.

You said that Dropbox was taking over the download, which looked like you meant the Dropbox APP was taking it over.

The dropboxusercontent "site" that you're referring to is the URL that is used when someone creates a public link to one of the files in their Dropbox account. Dropbox is not taking anything over. The file you're trying to download is simply hosted from someone's Dropbox account.

If you're trying to download this file from an iPhone, you likely won't be able to. Most mobile browsers on iOS do not allow you to download files because iOS does not have a user accessible file system. You can probably listen to the file in the browser, but that's it.

What do you mean your "iphone is overtaken"?

You won't be able to loop the file. Dropbox is not a media player. It has some basic media functionality but that's all. There are no options for looping a track. To get a real media experience you'll want to open the file in an actual media player, and you can't do that from a share link. You'd need to locate the file within your Dropbox account and open it that way.

If you're receiving a file through a share link from someone else, you'll need to save the file to your own account first, then open the file in another application that has the media features you require.

Hi -- thanks for your suggestions. What I really want to stop is dropbox simply taking over the download. Is there a setting somewhere that will not make this a default? I don't understand why the clip is being routed there.

      Thanks again.

At one point you likely told it to open in the app, so now it's doing it by default. Look in the upper-right corner of the app and you'll see a link to dropbox.com. Tapping that will open the link on the Dropbox website.
