Broken links in InDesign files on macOS Monterey 12.3.1
Hi there,
I've been happily working with Indesign files in Dropbox for a year now where my files are all stored Online Only. It used to be the case that Dropbox would automatically relink all the s...

Hello all together
I have the same problem in InDesign with files that are only online and despair almost every day when I have to edit InDesign jobs where I have to locate the files in the Finder first and download them every time.
Now I have discovered a workaround:
- Open a job in InDesign
- Select all entries in "Links"
- Right-click on the menu item "Edit With" > "Preview 11.0".
- After all files have been opened in Preview, quit Preview.
- Switch back to InDesign.
- Continue working.
I hope this helps some of you.

HELP HELP HELP!!! Dropbox - There has to be a fix for this!? I followed the 'workaround' but this will take HOURS every time I open up an indesign files. Many files will not open in Preview so those have to be re-linked manually. Please advise on how to fix this without having to spend hours to re-link files.

If you have the possibility (enough space on your hard drive) put everything as "available offline". There is no other work-around. I know, it doesn't seem possible that there is no solution to this problem, as so many professional users are struggling with a service their paying for, but THERE ISN'T. Nothing has been done. The beta-version that is promoted to help, doesn't do anything in that regard.

dropbox This is getting ridiculous. We have been waiting on a fix to this this for over a year now. Even when I try to download a completely new zip copy of a packaged InDesign file to my HardDrive from DropBox Web, the links remain linked back to the DropBox location. I can't even utilize the "Search for missing links in this folder" feature. It is not feasible to keep working like this!

AFTER MORE INVESTIGATION:
I just tried downloading the zip package of a 2022 folder from DropBox Web, thinking maybe the copy/paste via Finder was breaking links, and I still had the same results; the links were still linking back to our DropBox Archive folder. This was Packaged/Archived in the summer 2022 when I was still on OSX Monterey.
I tried the same as above (download zip from Dropbox Web) with a folder that was packaged in February...and the links seemed to be properly linked to ONLY the links folder. Links were not broken. These files were packaged while I am running OSX Ventura.
CONCLUSION: I think anything packaged from Monterey OSX will be a struggle and need to be updated. I tested making those 2022 files available for offline use so my project on my hard drive could access the links, I then re-packaged the project, and it has CORRECTLY kept the linked files properly linked! Not an ideal workflow, but it seems to be a plausible work-around.
