Setting default of how to open a file

When using Dropbox from a web browser and clicking on a file, I would like to have the option of setting it to always default the opening that file in another tab or another window.

Hey @fwallro, thanks for your feedback on this; it's been noted in our system.

As for opening files on a new browser window, you could try middle (or control) clicking on them. This seems to work just fine for me on Chrome.

Let me know if that helps!

Sorry, that's not what I'm asking about, I already know how to do that and it is a very clumsy and inefficient process requiring multiple clicks. What I'm looking for is to set a default action when clicking on a file, when in my browser, that automatically opens file in a new tab. That is not something that DropBox has, but it would be very helpful for those of us who do most of our work through a browser.

Thanks for the additional feedback and elaborating on your use-case @fwallro

Settings->Apps->Default Editing Apps.
Set to "Open with" rather than "View on dropbox.com"
I had to unset and set to get it to pick up the settings correctly.
