Hi,

After an accidental mass data move Dropbox informs us via email which is great. However It would be really helpful if there could be an option to undo that move if it was unintentional.

An accidental move has happened a few times to us, particularly when using a mobile device as it is eay to drag and drop without meaning to.

If the notification email could include A simple question such as ' Did you really mean to move these files? If not, would you like to restore them to the original location? A YES or NO button to respond would be much easier to fix than having to work out which folder has moved and where it has gone (Especially if the move was made on a phone which can be quite fiddly)

Cheers

Hi @Summit Geomatic, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Depending on your plan, you should be able to undo large changes like this by using Dropbox Rewind.

Do you have this feature on your account, and are you able to use it to undo this move?

Keep me posted!

Hi Jay,

I wasn't aware of the DropBox Rewind feature before, so thanks for that.

The trouble with the rewind option is it can affect more than just file location. Any files which have been altered within that directory could also be sent back in time and any updates which were made could be lost.

The rewind feature, while it is really powerful. needs careful oversight before it is used.

A simpler 'Oops' button in the notification email which is restricted to only moving the directory affected would be better in my opinion.

One of the issues we have had in the past is finding the files moved. The notification that this has happened is great. however it does not say which one/s.

Cheers
