Dropbox desktop app not opening or syncing on MacOS Ventura Version 13.6.5

I'm having issues with the mac desktop app not opening even after uninstalling/reinstalling/rebooting numerous times, not syncing with Finder, and the dropbox icon being grayed out. I followed all the tutorials I found online and in the community and still doesn't open/sync. 

 

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

one odd thing i noticed is the date of the application when it was installed today.

All you'd need to delete would be any Dropbox system folders, not your actual content @powerfoot

 

This won’t affect or remove the files in your Dropbox folder.

 

Can you locate the same icon on your menu bar, next to your WiFi and hover your mouse there? What is the app's syncing status, and version at the moment?

when i clicked on the icon, it was struggling to sync and continuously circling and wouldn't let me sign in. i accidentally clicked quit and it disappeared from the menu bar. when I clicked on preferences, the popup window displayed. please see screenshot.

Hey @powerfoot, thanks for the additional info and screenshots.

 

I see that the Dropbox application was stuck at "Starting..."; is it still stuck on that same message?

 i restarted my laptop, yes and still unable to sign in and the desktop app still not opening. 

please advise.

Is this a company-managed device, or a personal machine? Do you have any proxy, VPN, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

no to all. it was working perfectly fine until I noticed it wasn't syncing and couldn't open the desktop app over a week ago.

it was all connected to this account, but I'm only able to login via website/mobile app and not on the desktop. it doesn't even open.

Need more support?
